A natural deodorant that does not irritate the skin? Rock alum!

What is rock alum, the natural deodorant
More and more body care products on the market are full of chemical additives that are dangerous for the skin. There are still few studies on the damage caused by industrial deodorants, the effects of which will only become clear over the years. Rock alum is an excellent solution for dealing with perspiration: it is in fact a natural deodorant that is not at all harsh on the skin.
Its texture is solid and it is free from fragrances and colours; it is also a completely breathable natural deodorant. For this reason it can replace a normal industrial deodorant made only from chemical substances such as gas and alcohol!
Its properties
Rock alum is sold in powder form, very similar to a salt, or as a block similar to a crystal with smoothed corners. There are also more refined formats in which the stone is handcrafted and sold, for example, in the classic stick format. The properties of this stone are numerous and have long been known; the ancients used it for haemostatic and antibacterial purposes.
These properties allow it to be the perfect deodorant for irritated skin, often caused by the proliferation of bacteria that settle precisely in the damp areas of the body. Its function is to counteract the formation of bacteria, keeping the skin safe from these pathogens. This effectiveness of rock alum lasts for a long time, and is entirely comparable to industrial deodorants.

Gentle on any skin type. It does not stain clothing and leaves no trace on skin or clothes.
Rock alum, also a deodorant for children
When you have a child, you try in every way to protect their skin from industrial products whose long-term effects are still to be proven. Rock alum has also proved to be an excellent deodorant for children, as it is also suitable for the sensitive skin of little ones. Mothers can therefore feel reassured because this salt is absolutely hypoallergenic.
The important thing is to be careful not to let it be ingested, as it could cause gastrointestinal problems. This is certainly the only contraindication of this deodorant. There are many websites, especially those dealing with health, beauty and wellbeing, that highlight its fantastic and numerous properties.
How to use rock alum
Natural products often have a prohibitive cost compared with their industrial supermarket equivalents. This natural deodorant has a modest cost, is also sold in stick form and is very easy to use. It should be applied to wet skin, on those areas where more bacteria proliferate, causing unpleasant odours, such as the armpits, under the soles of the feet and in the groin area. Its use will allow the area where it is applied to enjoy considerable benefits visible from the very first applications: it leaves no marks on clothes, not even black ones, it is not greasy, not sticky and does not cover the fragrance you are wearing at all.
You can also feel reassured: its effectiveness is guaranteed for more than 12 hours. By using it, you are also doing the environment a favour because it is totally eco-friendly.
Where rock alum comes from
Why is rock alum deodorant so effective?
Simple: when it is passed over the area to be treated, it releases saline microparticles that prevent the formation of bacteria and block excessive perspiration. Its history has very ancient origins; it seems that its properties were discovered as early as the time of Babylon, before reaching Greece and Arabia. Its use and properties travelled around the world before arriving in the Republic of Genoa, where it enjoyed great fame. Moving on to more recent times: the advent of low-cost chemical products shifted attention from this natural stone to supermarket deodorants, but today environmental awareness and the increase in people with irritated skin are bringing rock alum more and more back into our bathroom cabinets.
How and where rock alum is produced
Rock alum is a natural stone. How does it become the stick we all know?
Production takes place directly where the minerals are extracted, followed by purification. The extracted minerals are immersed in water tanks where the highly soluble alum dissolves and blends with the water. Evaporation is then carried out, producing blocks that undergo the smoothing and polishing process. Pay attention when purchasing, because this process must be artisanal and must not involve any chemical additives.
