Palo Santo 'Especial' Wood Grains Natural and Eco-Sustainable Incense

Why choose Palo Santo Especial:

It is the variety of Palo Santo that grows in northern Peru. In this area, the Bursera graveolens tree grows on rocky ground and in harsh climatic and environmental conditions which, however, favour the development of a large amount of resin and a particularly strong and intense aroma. Compared with the Amarillo variety, Especial grains have a finer, flake-like format.

How to use the grains:

Using Palo Santo grains is very simple:

1. Light a charcoal disc and place it on the metal mesh inside the burner (see one of our handmade terracotta burners).
2. When the charcoal becomes glowing hot, take a pinch of grains and place it on top.
3. The Palo Santo grains slowly heat up until they release a moderate amount of smoke.
4. Leave the grains to burn on the charcoal until they no longer release smoke.
5. The duration of the fumigation also depends on the size of the Palo Santo grains chosen for the fumigation. In this case, the Amarillo variety has a larger, cube-like format; therefore, the fumigation will last longer than with the Especial variety.
6. For better fumigation, turn the charcoal with tweezers halfway through use.
7. For a more controlled and longer-lasting fumigation, close the burner with the lid.
8. When the grains are carbonised, remove them and add new ones.

Palo Santo grains, compared with the stick format, produce a greater and longer-lasting amount of smoke, without having to keep lighting the incense as is necessary with the stick. Unlike shavings, the grains do not need to be renewed.
